Re: FEELING NOSTALGIC TONIGHT

Yeah, managed to hold down a job for almost 3 years now .. !
Shit job but it doesn't take near as much out of me as the one I had when I started this guff. That was nights in a homeless shelter. Man that sucked ..!
How's things your end? Better, I hope?
Just re-reading the Journal. Hard to believe it took 2 years just to finish the sodding prologue ..
Also hard to believe any of you guys would have been willing to put up with the walls of sperg!!
Imagine if we'd kept going - might be almost done now?!

Re: FEELING NOSTALGIC TONIGHT

We could have been on at least turn 3 or 4 by now - if we had survived that long!

Glad the work front has improved - just resigned from mine of the last 11 so looking forward to a fresh start - which is nice.

Re: FEELING NOSTALGIC TONIGHT

To be fair I would do it very differently now ..
Not that trying to do an interactive novel isn't fun, but man its just too much work as Eggburger pointed out (more than once lol).
Also I think the online medium for this kind of game works best if its player driven. Not 'GM controls all and players just add instructions' etc.

This is a bit more sustainable: http://pbphouse.net/forum/the-journals- … 1632bi8n71

As a style of play ..

Although I suspect that the risk there is that you end up with people losing interest or just going awol etc.

To be fair I think we did alright: I maybe just needed to ease off a bit with the walls of text lol

Have you managed to find a game online that didn't die off for one reason or another?

Re: FEELING NOSTALGIC TONIGHT

I loved the walls of text.

And the journal reads brilliantly.

This whole thing got me back into RPGs and WFRP. Do a bit of DnD in a group of randoms these days and have spent far too much on eBaying old WFRP books. They are lovely though.

Mixed feelings about 4th edition emerging - could be good.

Re: FEELING NOSTALGIC TONIGHT

Not all sure about 4ed. Open mind though. :)
Thanks for the kind words. I often come back here and overlooking how bad it is (sorry, it is lol), the Journal sets a scene alright.
I think its going to feel a bit rubbery and read a bit stilted as a consequence of the medium. I've had the fortune to, being old as old is, participate in narrative games of this type back in the Dark Age of Technology aka the 90's. It gets better as you get to know and trust each other and anticipate the next move etc. Like music really (my other obsession hehe).
I really do want to pick this up one day. Truly. So don't fucking die/grow up on me ok?!

PS: Taboo s2 just wrapped filming! Woop Woop!

PPS: Really enjoyed The Young Pope. Drunk obviously.

What was your involvement with taboo? Really enjoyed S1. Especially after you mentioned how the look of the city was close to how you imagined Nuln ...

No way! Hehe. Totally got the wrong end of that stick. I assumed that since you knew it had just wrapped, you were an insider if some kind. Obviously you just pay more attention to what is going on than I do.  ?

Re: FEELING NOSTALGIC TONIGHT

Yeah I really enjoyed the first season - like yourself I saw a lot of 'my mental image' in it. Probably a bit 'later' but a lot of what we did was in there. The truckle bed, the coins (which he puts in the donation box lol), the theme of water and filth etc. The 'mad with power' and the plain 'mad'. The cautious red-headed actress, the whore house etc. The casual brutality. Shit even the 'waste' pot at the foot of his father's repose! Deffo got the 'feels' when I first watched it. Sorry if this dispels any feeling of 'teh awesum' etc. I'm just a scrub with a job. Alas. :)

One thing that sticks in my mind is the meeting in ep1 where they are shooting horses in the background ..

Also the 'Malay' and Winter bless her socks (who I strongly suspect isn't real like the entire story of a 'drowning' man... )

"You don't speak but you do have answers, you do, and you will give me answers!"

Nowt to do with me anyway.
